i.TV

February 8th, 2010 No comments

i.TV is the only movie, DVD and TV guide you’ll ever need. Quickly find out when and where your favorite TV shows and movies are playing, anywhere in the US and Canada. Not only that, i.TV is a platform where you can access your favorite media from top brands like TiVo, Netflix and MovieTickets.com. Use i.TV to buy movie tickets, rent DVDs and remotely program your TiVo DVR to record your favorite TV shows and movies with one tap! TV listings for all North American TV providers including Comcast, Time-Warner, DirecTV, DIsh Network, Verizon, AT&T Uverse, Cablevision, Bell, Cox, Rogers and Charter. It’s sometimes buggy, but only because this app is extremely ambitious in terms of what it does and also how quickly i.TV updates it.  Highly recommended, especially if you have a TiVo, and despite it’s quirks.

MiniBooks for Freshbooks

February 8th, 2010 No comments

MiniBooks puts the popular web invoicing software FreshBooks in the palm of your hand. Manage your clients, send invoices, run timers, and record payments, all while on the go. Plus, MiniBooks fully synchronizes with your FreshBooks account, so you have access to your account even when you’re off the grid.  If you use Freshbooks, extensively (like I do) Minibooks is simply a must-have.

Roboform

RoboForm is an award-winning Password-Manager and Form-Filler that allows one-click logins.  It is available in Windows, USB Drive,  Online, and now iPhone versions. RoboForm on the iPhone and iPod Touch allows access to data files created and used on your Desktop, Laptop, or USB Drive, all using the RoboForm Online service, that provides up-to-date copies of your files.  I’ve used Roboform for years, I honestly don’t know what I would do without  it.  Highly recommended.

Swipe Pro Credit Card Terminal

January 18th, 2010 No comments

Swipe Pro (previously iSwipe Pro) is the Gold Standard when it comes to secure credit card transactions on the iPhone. When you’re at that next trade show, selling door to door, or anywhere without access to a credit card terminal, Swipe’s easy interface allows you to accept credit cards wherever your business takes you. Highly recommended.

CNN Mobile

January 18th, 2010 No comments

CNN Mobile supports live streaming video of breaking news, and it works surprisingly well.  Functionality-wise, all the other news applications available on the iPhone are  playing a game of perpetual catch-up.  CNN  Mobile isn’t free like some others, but if you’re a news junkie and need your fix, it’s the only game in town.

Reeder

January 18th, 2010 No comments

Although there are many RSS reader apps available on the iPhone that work with Google Reader (I’ve tried them all) Reeder stands out from all the others because of its superior interface, features, and speed. Perhaps Byline, after its much-anticipated update is released, will be better. Unfortunately, after many months Byline is still a no-show.

MobileNavigator North America

January 18th, 2010 No comments

MobileNavigator  from  Navigon  is leading the iPhone satellite navigation pack in terms of features and reliability.  Until Google Maps with Navigation comes over from Android and has had a chance to mature, I think MobileNavigator will continue to be the best way to get from point-a to point-b using an iPhone.

BeejiveIM

January 18th, 2010 No comments

Beejive is, without question, the best instant messaging app currently available on the iPhone. It is easily worth every penny of the $10 you will pay for it.  If instant messaging is an important business communications tool for you, please don’t except any substitutes, I can’t recommend BeejiveIM enough.
